The Department of Home Affairs published the 2025-26 nomination allocations for the state and territory programs: 20,350 places in total, comprising 12,850 for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and 7,500 for the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa.

Allocations are administrative planning figures for how many nominations each jurisdiction may issue in the program year. They are not visa grants, and each state and territory applies its own selection criteria within its allocation.

What it means

  • Allocations are how many nominations each state or territory may issue in the year. They are not visa grants.
  • Each jurisdiction applies its own selection criteria within its allocation, so the same occupation can be treated differently across the country.
