Website Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of this website. They are about the website itself. The terms on which we act for a client are set out separately, in a written engagement.
Document SM-LEG-02 · Version 1.2 · Effective 13 September 2026
Who we are
This website is operated by Shoreline Migration Pty Limited (ACN 700 192 829, ABN 64 700 192 829), a proprietary company registered in New South Wales and trading as Shoreline Migration. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company, and "you" means anyone using this site.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
What this website is
This website is published to explain how Australian migration law works, to describe what we do, and to let you reach us. It is general information, prepared with care from the law as in force at the time of writing.
It is not advice about your circumstances, and reading it does not make you our client. Advice about your position follows an assessment of your position, given under a written engagement. Nothing here should be acted on as though it were advice.
Migration law changes often, sometimes at short notice, and a page that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it. Check the current position before acting, or ask us.
No outcome is promised
Nothing on this website is a prediction or a promise about the outcome of any application, assessment, nomination or decision.
A visa is decided by the Department of Home Affairs and, on review, by the Administrative Review Tribunal. Much of what a matter turns on is decided by other bodies entirely: skills assessing authorities, State and Territory nominating bodies, panel physicians and the health assessment service the Department uses, English language test providers, police and character checking agencies, professional registration boards, and education providers. We do not control any of them. None of those decisions is ours to make, and no one acting properly would suggest otherwise.
Nor do we control how long any of them take. Processing times published by any body are estimates, they change, and a time that held last month may not hold this month.
Availability of the site
We work to keep this website available, accurate and secure, and we maintain it actively.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, error-free or free of viruses or other harmful components, and we do not warrant that any defect will be corrected. Websites depend on networks, hosting and browsers we do not control.
You should maintain your own current virus protection. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time without notice.
Our rights in this material
The material on this site is ours, or used with permission. Copyright subsists in the written material, and our name, logo and the visual system used across this site are ours.
- Our analysis, commentary and explanations of the migration framework.
- The structure and presentation of the data published on this site, and the way it has been assembled and expressed.
- The Shoreline Migration name, the wordmark and the design system used throughout, including the colour system and the motion and pattern work.
- The methods, models and approach described on this site.
The underlying law, and public data published by government, are of course not ours. What is ours is the work we have done on them – the selection, the arrangement and the expression.
What you may do with it
You are welcome to read this site, to print a page for yourself, and to share a link to it. Linking to us is welcome and needs no permission, provided the link does not suggest an association, approval or endorsement that does not exist.
You may reproduce a page for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you keep it intact, do not alter it, keep any notices of ownership on it, and do not present it as your own or as anyone else's.
You may not republish this material commercially, incorporate it into another service, or use it to train or develop a product, without our written permission. If you would like to use something, ask us. We are not difficult about it.
Using the site properly
You must not misuse this website.
- Do not introduce viruses, trojans, worms or any other malicious or technologically harmful material.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, the server it sits on, or any connected system.
- Do not attack the site, including by denial-of-service.
- Do not scrape, harvest or systematically extract material from the site.
- Do not use the site in any way that breaches the law or infringes anyone's rights.
Misuse of this kind may be a criminal offence. Where it is, we will report it to the relevant authorities and cooperate with them.
To detect and deal with misuse we rely on the standard records our hosting provider keeps, including the network address a request came from, the time of it, and what was requested. Those records exist for security and reliability, they are kept for a limited period, and we do not use them to build a picture of ordinary visitors. Where an attack or an attempted intrusion occurs we may examine them, preserve them, and disclose them to law enforcement or to our provider where we are required or permitted to do so. Our privacy policy describes those records.
Other websites we link to
We link to government and regulator websites because the primary sources matter, and because you should be able to check what we say against them.
Those sites are not ours. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement.
Liability
Certain rights and guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. Nothing in these terms does so, or is intended to do so, and nothing here should be read as limiting a right you have that cannot lawfully be limited.
We do not attempt to limit our liability to you for the services we supply. Where you engage us, what we owe you is set out in your written service agreement and in the professional obligations described below.
To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of this website or from reliance on the general information published on it, including indirect or consequential loss. That is a statement about a free, general-information website; it says nothing about work done for a client.
This clause concerns the website. It does not limit the professional obligations we owe a client under a written service agreement, under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), or under the Code of Conduct that governs registered migration agents. We do not seek to contract out of those obligations, and any attempt to do so would be ineffective.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your use of this website is the version published at the time you use it, and the date it was last updated is shown below.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales. Submitting to that jurisdiction does not take away any right you have to bring a matter where the law otherwise allows you to bring it.
