South Australia has published its 2026-27 General Skilled Migration program update and is now accepting Registrations of Interest for state nomination for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visas.

The onshore opening is limited. At this stage, Registrations of Interest are open to people living and working in South Australia whose current visa expires by 31 January 2027. Applicants outside Australia do not lodge a Registration of Interest; they are considered from their Expression of Interest in SkillSelect.

South Australia nominates through four streams: South Australian Graduates, Skilled Employment in South Australia, Outer Regional Skilled Employment, and Offshore. Each has its own residence, employment and study requirements. The 2026-27 Skilled Occupation List is available on South Australia’s website, and the state has named priority sectors including construction, engineering, health, education and manufacturing.

Meeting the requirements does not guarantee an invitation. South Australia selects from registrations and expressions of interest.
